The newly carved out resource rich State of Jharkhand is widely acclaimed as the region of the future, having immense potential for industrialisation with its large deposits of minerals, which could provide a firm launching pad for various industries. It is one of the richest zones of minerals in the world. As large as the 40% of the total minerals of the country are available in this state. The State is the sole producer of cooking coal, uranium and pyrite. It ranks first in the production of coal, mica, kyanite and copper in India. The geographical exploration and exploitation of gold, silver, base metals, decorative stones, precious stones, etc. are the potential areas of the future.
